Dimensions Clinic, housed at the Castro-Mission Health Center, offers low-cost health services for queer, transgender and questioning youth ages 12 to 25. Medical and mental health staff provide trans-friendly medical care and mental health services. They also have a weekly trans and gender-variant youth group for those under 25, and a new trans group for 12-15 year-old youth. I am pleased to announce that I have joined the Cigna Behavioral Health network, and am now able to help Cigna members use their health plan's benefits to receive therapy.
If you are a Cigna member and would like to find out what kind of behavioral health coverage you have, please see their member site at mycigna.com. This Wellness Center aims to address the four cornerstones of human well-being: stress management, nutrition, exercise and spirituality/community building. Staff use a harm reduction model to allow clients to participate on the level that best fits their needs. October's schedule of classes offers acupuncture, yoga, journal writing, cooking instruction, substance abuse groups, meditation, foot care, poetry, women's/men's support groups, and theater games/song classes. I am always thankful for the continued existence of this valued community organization, located in the heart of SOMA. Let me know if you have questions about this service!
